A Quick Natural Birth at Memorial Hermann Hospital – Katy
I knew that after seeing how quickly things would move with their second baby, that things would most likely move just as quickly with their 3rd. At 40 weeks 1 day, Mom was sent to the hospital after finding out that her amniotic fluid was low.
After being admitted into the hospital at 3 cm and 30% effaced, they started cytotec to help further prep her cervix for induction. However, contractions began on their own and by 10:30 pm, she was 3 cm and 60% effaced. By 11 pm, they decided to call their doula out, Latina Baxter with Marley & Moo to help provide support during labor. By 12:40 am, Mom had quickly progressed to 6 cm. Within 30 minutes, Mom was asking to use the bathroom and began involuntarily pushing while on the toilet. She was swiftly moved to the bed as her OB came in and allowed her to deliver her baby in Mom’s chosen position. At 1:30 am Caleb was delivered into his mother’s arms.
Out of all the years that I have been doing birth photography, this year was the first year that I had a baby born with red hair. Caleb made my 2nd ever red-haired baby within a matter of weeks. I was in love!!!

Although she would be delivering in the same hospital as her two other babes, she knew that she wanted a provider that would give her the opportunity to follow through with going unmedicated. So, for this pregnancy she switched from her usual OB to the Midwife Group at Texas Children’s Pavilion for Women.
Here are 6 things to consider when choosing the hospital in Houston that you will deliver your baby at.
After Mom underwent a cesarean section with her first baby, she knew that she would be trying for a VBAC with the next. She was able to successfully get her VBAC for not only her 2nd babe, but also her third, which I had the honor of capturing.

This being their third birth, they knew things could go one way or the other. Either labor was going to be progressively faster than the last to, or we were going to experience the all too familiar “Wild Card” birth that a lot of 3rd babies bring.
Mom and Dad reached out to me a couple of months before their due date knowing that they wanted to relive their beautiful birth story through that way of a birth film. Still images are beautiful and amazing, but there is just something about seeing the movement and hearing the sounds of the moment your family grew.
Mom several months before her due date as they found out that this last pregnancy was going to be a surprise boy/girl twin birth. Mom wanted nothing more than to try and avoid a c-section as long as she could safely deliver them vaginally.
This first-time mom contacted me about capturing their birth story early in their pregnancy knowing that they would want this special moment captured. They had plans to go through labor naturally, without any pain medications.
Mom contacted me after the guidance of her doula Kathleen Wilson recommended that their story be captured. They had just found out at 20 weeks that not only would be having surprise twin girls, but her option to have a home birth was no longer there due to the high-risk nature of the pregnancy.
