This isn’t for everyone.
I get it. I really do. Birth sessions aren’t for everyone.
Birth is often viewed as messy and gross and medical. Sure, it can be messy. But really... birth is truly and utterly raw and intimate and vulnerable. You are about to embark on one of the hardest, yet life-changing moments of your life. You are trusting me to surround myself into your story, to become a part of it in order to capture the emotions and events that tell it.
If there is anything about birth that is predictable, it’s that it is completely UNpredictable. But that’s what’s beautiful about it. It’s exhilarating to get a call at 1 am to find out that new life is about to enter into the world. Today could be the day.
I could say that my experience lies in the number of births I have captured, but really it’s not so much about what I have witnessed, but what I have learned in being a birth worker. There is an art to being within the birth space and being unobtrusive at the same time. The moments are fleeting and unscripted. Your emotions will rise and fall. Your birth space is sacred and your story unguided. Your birth story is not the same as the next person’s and I am prepared to embrace that. If you are willing to put that trust into me and let me capture it through my eyes, then… your birth story awaits.
In the meantime, let’s get personal.
Hey, there. I’m Stephanie. I’m a wife and mother to 3 boys (Aiden, Austin and Ace). I somehow survived the toddler years of having my boys so close in age. No, like really close. Aiden and Austin are 13 months apart and Ace came exactly 2 years later. The early days were filled with managing the home life and NICU stays for my younger two. Once I survived that, we moved to potty training. Then it was a matter of getting through the day of keeping 3 boys fed and un-injured each day. But, I survived. I’m a survivor of the toddler years, then elementary years. Now I’m in the throes of teenagers and managing their awkwardness, social life and sporting events. My days are filled with stocking the pantry, feeding hungry mouths and driving around in circles to get everyone where they need to be. Then repeat.
But, me personally? I love to binge watch on all the streaming apps while I edit. Travel when I’m not on-call. Eat. Workout. Eat with friends. Read. Have family dinners (yes, more eating!). Hang pool-side... Oh, and on the beach too! Shop while not necessarily buying. Cheer my boys on at all of their events. The colors blue and grey speak to me most. And my love languages are quality time and physical touch.
I can’t wait to get to know you as well!
