An Unmedicated Birth Film with Midwives at The Addice

This sweet mom contacted me early on in excitement for her upcoming birth at the birth center The Addice. Although nervous, she was confident in herself and ready to bring her baby into her arms.

The morning of her labor, she contacted me to let me know that she thought that labor might be on its way. Being a first time mom, it is often easy to second guess what is truly the real deal. However, about an hour later, she experienced bloody show and increased labor pains. We were definitely going to be meeting this little one soon. She settled herself in for what she thought would be a long day of labor, but 3 hours later, I got a text saying she and her mom were heading to the birth center. Her labor kicked swiftly into gear and they were racing to the center while still trying to call all of the necessary people to meet her there… myself, the doula, her HUSBAND!

I alerted the midwives just how close her contractions were and they told me that she was completely dilated upon arrival. I flew as fast as I could possibly go and was grateful to walk in to see that we were still working baby down.

As is usually witnessed at The Addice, the room was filled with calm. Soft encouragement rang out from the midwives assisting as they helped coach mom into what felt right to bring her baby further down. She was moved to the birth stool. The midwives, doula and her mom all surrounded her as they helped encourage the work that she was doing as she leaned into her husband for support. No rushing. Just peace.

At last her baby emerged and was brought into her arms. He was everything that she had wished for.
